- Senior System Administrator for 150+ Solaris, SunOS,
and AIX systems across a nationwide network. These systems used NIS, NIS+,
DCE, CDE, NFS, and automounting with travelling home directories. Server
systems ran ODS or Veritas Volume Manager and supported large Oracle databases.
- PrimeCo, Westlake, TX - 1996 and 1999
- Senior Systems Engineer/Technical Manager for a large
imaging shop. Responsible for Windows NT, NetWare, LAN (physical), and WAN.
Projects included Windows NT RAS implementation, creation of corporate DNS,
setup of Windows NT multi-domain trust relationship (Master-Slave), LAN
backbone redesign, and protocol migration among others. - ACS Dataplex, Dallas,
TX - 1998
- Lead Analyst supporting a mission critical middleware
system using DCE and a proprietary transaction monitor running on Solaris
and AIX. This middleware system allowed for secure transactions to flow
between multiple companies in a reliable and fault tolerant manner. - PrimeCo,
Westlake, TX - 1996-1997
- Designed, developed, and implemented a client/server
tool for monitoring the health of a proprietary transaction monitor using
ksh, nawk, SQL*Plus, Oracle, and BMC Patrol. The tool monitors error output
from the transaction monitor and based on information specified in updateable
tables, is capable of automatic problem resolution, trouble ticket entry
into a Scopus help desk system, and alpha paging the individual tasked
with responsibility for the system. When an individual is paged, the error
message is sent to the pager along with the trouble ticket number. - PrimeCo,
Westlake, TX - 1997
- Configured an Ultra Enterprise 3000 to run TotalNet
Advanced Server allowing Microsoft clients to connect to a Solaris based
PVCS repository hosting cross-platform development middleware code. Other
clients to this repository included Solaris 2.x, and AIX 4.x. This project
also involved installing a Windows NT 4.0 Primary Domain Controller to provide
case-sensitive password authentication to the TotalNet Advanced Server system.
- Assigned as a member of a SWAT team to resolve complex
production issues with a mission critical billing system. The system involved
providing customers of this cellular phone company with automated, real
time calculation of their phone bills. All issues were resolved.
- Acted as a senior level System Administrator managing
and directing other System Administrators in their day to day responsibilities.
This included bringing lower level System Administrators up on their skill
sets and introducing them into a high pressure production environment.
- Developed and implemented security, access, and naming
standards.
- Developed disaster recovery plans and contengency systems
including evaluating and recommending appropriate backup and archival software,
hardware, media, off site storage, and media rotation schemes.
- Sole System Administrator at a major educational institution
for 3000+ clients on 16 NetWare servers running 4.1, 3.12, and 3.11. Authentication
systems included Bindery Services, NetWare Name Services, and NDS. Some
servers were running GroupWise and NOV*IX TCP/IP gateways connecting IPX/SPX
clients to the Internet. Client types included most everything. - UTSouthwestern

- Normalized and converted a flat DB3 database into a
relational MS Access database. This database is used to track diabetes patient
information for medical research at The Molecular Immunology Center at The

was also used to retreive Internet mail using a dial-up ISDN link and
